HIS Story
Born and raised in Manitoba to a family of professionals, Derek chose to also be educated in their home province. Soon after graduating, he moved west to Vancouver to build his professional career.
He practiced in Abbotsford for 5 years before he made the decision to move to Kitsilano in 2003.
Along the way he has renovated to accommodate three associate dentists (one of whom is a periodontist), resulting in shorter waits for appointments and a more complete range of services.

Dr. Derek Okamura
Derek graduated from his hometown University of Manitoba in 1994 and was honoured with the medal for oral pathology. His education over his 25 years of practice have included training with the Pankey Institute, The Seattle Institute with Dr. Frank Spears, Occlusion Connections with Dr. Clayton Chan and the Las Vegas Institute for Cosmetic Dentistry.
Although Derek loves the the prairie sunshine of his hometown Winnipeg he made a decision to move to B.C. in 1999 to practice in general family dentistry treating both adults and children.
Dr. Okamura’s areas of focus include TMJ, Chronic pain and bite reconstruction, Orthodontics and Myofunctional therapy.
His goal for perfection and detail combined with his commitment to total health gives him a unique understanding of the direct correlation between dental health and the wellness of the body. His attention to alignment, airway and bite and how it relates to chronic pain is an area of focus for Dr. Okamura.
When asked why he is so passionate about dentistry he shares, “Dentistry has the best of both worlds for me. It is a science where as a health care professional it allows me to help others and it is also a detailed art which allows me to create perfection.”
Besides his love for Dentistry Derek considers exercise, eating well and hanging out with his family his favourite pastimes.
Dr. Ivana Gojic
Dr. Ivana Gojic graduated from the University of Belgrade, Serbia and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine D.M.D.) degree in 2006. She moved to Vancouver in 2010 and after completing the Canadian equivalency process, conducted by National Dental Examining board of Canada, became a registered dentist in BC. Dr.Gojic is a member of College of Dental Surgeons of BC, BC Dental Association and Canadian Dental Association.
Ivana is passionate about dentistry, focused on providing gentle dental care to restore function and beautiful smiles. As a general dental practitioner, she has a special interest in endodontics, cosmetic and pediatric dentistry. Dr.Gojic participated in continuing education courses in order to keep up to date with newest treatments, materials and advances in technology.
Her number one desire is to be able to offer and provide the most advanced dental care available to each and every patient. A happy patient is her greatest reward. Dr. Gojic looks forward to meeting you and taking care of all your dental needs.
In her free time, Ivana enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves skiing, hiking and tennis which makes Vancouver a perfect home for her and her family.
